Missed the registration deadline? It’s NOT too late. You can still register and vote.

Same-Day Voter Registration (Conditional Voter Registration – CVR) is available at all Vote Centers through 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Follow this process if you live in San Mateo County but you are not registered to vote in San Mateo County and you want to go to a Vote Center and vote. You can register prior to showing up at a Vote Center.

Before you begin

  • You need to have access to email, so we can notify you when the registration is processed.
  • You must have a signature on file with the DMV to complete the online registration.
  • If you have a California Driver’s License or ID, you should have a signature on file with the DMV.
  • This service is for voters registering in San Mateo County. If you do not live in San Mateo County, your vote will not be counted.

  • Go to California Secretary of State's Register to Vote website.
  • Complete your voter registration.
  • Consent to use your DMV signature (If you do not consent or no signature is available, you will have to vote a regular CVR ballot).
  • After registering, enter your email address and click send to get an electronic copy of your receipt.
  • Forward the email receipt that you receive to: SameDayVote@smcacre.gov.
